I’m a Fitness Professional. Yet from time to time I really don’t feel like I’m one.
When I scroll through my Facebook or Instagram feed I see a Fitness World and I feel like an alien. I should fit in but I don’t. Because the Fitness World sprawled all over social media isn’t my approach to fitness nor something that I want to be associated with.
Let’s first get one thing clear: Working out and fitness is important. So is having body goals or with body appearance and your look. We desire this, as it boosts our self-confidence and self-value.
Yet, having a healthy skinny looking body shouldn’t be your only focus in life-all-day-every-day.
The strain and extent at which the world is wanting to implement fitness, is insane. Most think (and feel) that their life will be better when they reach a certain size or fat percentage. But in reality, like a sugar-rush-crash: Your weight successes often have a weight crash too, where you go from excitement to disappointment.
Fact is: Building your self-love and inner satisfaction on the way you look from the outside is playing Russian roulette.
Mostly out of two reasons.
One: Chasing acceptance, admiration and more happiness (from yourself or – let’s be honest – others) based on your appearance, your shell only, is like investing everything in the wrapping paper, hamper and glitter stuff but not giving a hoot about the actual present inside. And once you open that packaging and see that it’s empty on the inside, you’ll not only be disappointed but disheartened for doing all that work for the outside and feeling like crap on the inside.
Second: Investing all your energy in how your body looks, limits you. It’s like only believing that in order to be healthy and fit that you can and should only eat one sort of lettuce leaves. When there are a gazillion different variations. You are so versatile and limitless.
Being fit and healthy isn’t just an outer goal – it’s also an inner one.
To know how to overcome your inner demons, hesitations, loving yourself and others truly without trying to impress or pretending all the time. Having a fit soul – not a soul that is living in the pain and logic of past experiences holding you back, but one that is supporting you to be your truest self and finding your inner and deeply fulfilling happiness.
What can you do today to go from focusing only on outer goals but also inner ones?
Happy Habits that will improve your inner fitness
Stop ignoring your gut
Don’t be afraid to be honest with yourself and don’t be afraid you might discover something scaring when you really start discovering yourself. You may find painful stuff but you will win way more with overcoming and empowering yourself inside out. You will strenghten your self-confidence and this will give you motivation to go for a healthier lifestyle. As a start: Breath deeply and close your eyes and ask yourself the question: What do I need to know now? What do I want to do, be, have now truly? And then: Action!
Show yourself some extra love
allow yourself to stand up for your ideas, your deepest desires and your truest needs. Don’t try to fit in. Authentic Fit-ness is about to fit in your personal own happy-healthy lifestyle. You are worthy. We tend to focus on our deficits, right? Learn to see all your beautiful diamonds and pearls in you. Start with this: Write down 5 incredible beautiful things about yourself: what you did, you can, you are. If you are your Bestie, you appreciate yourself. If you appreciate yourself you are more willing to go for a healthy lifestyle.
Don’t give a fuck about the others
To write this blogpost wasn’t easy for me to do. There will be a few who will dislike what I’ve written or roll their eyes. But being brave enough to be our truest self is the only way to find fulfillment in life and it’s fucking awesome! Forget about Diet X, forget about Diet Z – start to listen to your body and integrate its signals and you will get the better results in your workout as well as you feel what you need now.
Don’t kill yourself
Start with baby steps, with inner fitness it’s like with working out: You start with an easy choreography or a lower weight and work yourself up to bigger challenges. Step by step.Put yourself little goals and celebrate them when you hit it. Find your balance between relaxation and activation: as well as your body, as your mind and your soul need both.
Tribe is empowering
Hang around people and situations that are supporting you not breaking you down. Don’t hang around with fake friends or role models. Be bold and brave enough to stand up for your ideas and go for like minded people that help you to feel good AND to step out of comfort zone whenever it’s needed to be the best version of yourself.
Start listening preciously to your thoughts
What do you tell yourself the whole day about yourself or about others? Do you really want to keep going with this inner state or do you might want to be healthier and fitter in your mindset as well? Remember: Your thoughts will lead your decisions and action for or against a happy healthy lifestyle. If you are finding Mindbugs – evil bugs (which every one of us has got – a crazy inner zoo) – write those thoughts down on a paper each time they appear. Check which one is the most often one and find a way to get rid of it. For example with my upcoming course “the ultimate selfconfidence booster” (hit the comments or send me an email if you want to know more about it).
So back to me: Yes, I’m a Fitness Professional. A Fitness-For-Life-Professional. With a non-spectacular but chocolate friendly body fat percentage, ups and downs and a perfectly unperfected but finally unconditionally loved body. For the first time of my life, I feel like I fit in (and this took my nearly forty years – I’m kind of a stubborn one).
Wow, what a feeling!
I fit in my OWN personal way of fitness and lifestyle. I am fit in my mind, my soul and my body in a way that gives me the power, the light heartedness and deep satisfaction to rock this beautiful life in its colors without torturing myself (or others – you might realize being a skinny angry bitch eating salad without sauce isn’t such a great partner for dinner).
Not that this lifestyle is always easy. But it’s authentic and sustainable. And totally worthy every effort you made for it.
So if you want to be fit but you’re not ready to kill yourself for a certain body result only, then the Life Junkie Tribe is your kinda place. You might want to start with our free dance session first. Check it our here.
